RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES IN HIV-1 RNA (ROHR)
sponsored by The Center for Structural Biology of HIV-1 RNA (CRNA)
APPLICATIONS DUE JANUARY 16, 2026
ROHR is an opportunity for undergraduate students to perform a full time summer research experience at one of the participating CRNA laboratories during summer 2026. Applicants will be selected on a competitive basis. Preferably rising sophomores and juniors and students with a good research foundation. Students will be matched with laboratories according to their research interests and their top 3 laboratory choices provided on their application form. Students will most likely be matched with their top choice. Each selected undergraduate will work on projects under the direct supervision of faculty, postdoctoral fellows and/or senior graduate students.
Some of the student activities will include:
travel to Bethesda, MD for the NIH- HIV Structural Biology meeting in June 2026 (all travel expenses paid through funding from the CRNA)
cohort Zoom meetings, including student presentations with PIs in attendance
any activities that are required by the institutional summer program, if relevant
guest lectures on science, society, and social equity
Trainees will receive a stipend to cover living expenses through funding from the CRNA, an NIH U54 grant, in collaboration with other existing REU programs at participating institutions.
Any questions can be directed to the ROHR Program Director, Gwen Clacher (gclacher@umich.edu)
